Our Sphere of Influence
What is a Sphere of Influence (SOI) and who determines it?
A Sphere of Influence is defined by Government Code Section 56425 as “…a plan for the probable physical boundary and service area of a local agency or municipality…”. An SOI is generally considered to be a 20-year growth boundary for a jurisdiction.
The San Luis Obispo County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) is the agency that makes the final determination on the District’s SOI.
On May 20, 2004, LAFCO adopted the Sphere of Influence Update and Municipal Service Review for Nipomo Community Services District. The documents are available for review at the NCSD Office.
