Nipomo Community Services District announces the winners of the 2006 Water Awareness Student Art Contest.
The Nipomo Community Service District is pleased to announce the winners of the “2006 Water Awareness Student Poster Art Contest”. This year’s winners are: Amber Pesce, Melinda Marchiano, Claire Bodger, and Nikki Pesce. Aimed at Nipomo students, aged 3-18, the contest challenged students to create an original drawing and slogan illustrating Nipomo’s water resources and/or offer water conservation ideas which residents could use to save water. Students responded to the contest by submitting entries highlighting the use of native grasses, the use of drip irrigation and with indoor tips on saving water in the bath and laundry. The poster contest is linked to the American Water Works Association’s national “May is Water Awareness Month” campaign.
The NCSD conservation coordinator stated, “We were delighted with the creativity and high quality of the entries we received. The students put a lot of effort into making these posters, and their messages about water conservation are powerful expressions of their concern for Nipomo’s natural resources. We hope Nipomo students will look forward to participating in next year’s contest.”
