Materials Accepted at NO CHARGE at SLO County Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites:
Many electronics products such as computers, televisions, microwave ovens and other common items, such as household batteries, paints and solvents are now considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). Proper disposal of HHW is vital to preserving our community’s environmental health. Improperly handled HHW has the potential for personal injury, and the potential to adversely impact Nipomo’s air, soil and water supplies, especially Nipomo’s groundwater. Disposal of hazardous waste is regulated and improper disposal is illegal. HHW materials should not be flushed in the toilet, dumped in a drain or disposed of in the regular trash. The penalties can be substantial. Household Hazardous Waste must be taken to a licensed disposal facility.
Nipomo residents are urged to dispose of HHW items at the Nipomo Household Hazardous Waste Facility: 509 Southland (access from Frontage Road, southwest of the Tefft St./ Hwy. 101 off ramp), SATURDAYS ONLY from 11 am – 3 pm.
